Osteopathy in Wantirna

If you've been putting up with pain, stiffness or limited movement for longer than you'd like, you're not alone. Most of the patients we see have tried rest, heat packs and pain relief and found that the problem keeps coming back. That's because those things treat the symptom, not the cause. Osteopathy works differently. At Nudge Osteopathy in Wantirna, we take a hands-on, whole-body approach to finding out what's actually driving your pain and treating it properly.

OSTEOPATHY AT NUDGE

Hands-on treatment that looks at your whole body, not just where it hurts.

Osteopathy is a hands-on form of manual therapy focused on the musculoskeletal system your muscles, joints, ligaments and connective tissue. Osteopaths are trained to look at how all these structures work together, rather than treating each part in isolation.

In a session at Nudge, we'll assess how your body moves, identify where things are restricted or overloaded, and use a combination of techniques to restore normal function. That might include joint mobilisation, soft tissue massage, stretching and dry needling depending on what your body actually needs.

Osteopathy is suitable for a wide range of people, from desk workers and tradies to weekend athletes and older patients managing chronic conditions. If pain or stiffness is getting in the way of your daily life, it's worth getting it properly assessed.

Why choose Nudge Osteopathy

There are plenty of osteopaths in the Knox area. Here is what makes a difference at Nudge.

  • We take the time. Your initial consult runs for 60 minutes. We use every minute of it. We do not rush assessments or skip straight to treatment before we understand what is actually going on.

  • We tell you the why. Understanding why you are in pain and what is driving it is not a bonus at Nudge, it is part of the treatment. Patients who understand their condition recover better and maintain those results for longer.

  • We are straight with you. If we do not think we can help, we will say so. If you need a scan, a referral or a different type of care, we will tell you that too. Our job is to get you the best outcome, not to keep you coming back indefinitely.

  • We treat the cause, not just the symptom. Hands-on relief matters, but we are always looking at the bigger picture. What caused this? What is keeping it there? What needs to change to stop it coming back?

  • We are qualified and registered. Niraj and Roslyn are both AHPRA-registered osteopaths with university degrees in osteopathy. Not remedial massage. Not chiropractic. Osteopathy.

Osteopathic techniques we use

Osteopathic treatment is not one thing. Depending on what we find in your assessment, we draw on a range of techniques.

Soft tissue therapy
Hands-on work applied to the muscles, tendons and connective tissue surrounding the problem area. Used to reduce tension, improve circulation and restore normal tissue mobility.

Joint mobilisation
Rhythmic movement applied to restricted joints to restore normal range of motion. This is different from high-velocity manipulation (cracking) and is suitable for most patients including those who prefer a gentler approach.

Dry needling
Thin, sterile needles inserted into specific trigger points to release stubborn muscle tension that hands-on work alone cannot always reach. Used as part of a broader treatment plan, not as a standalone technique.

Muscle energy technique
A gentle active technique where you use your own muscle contractions in a specific way to help restore joint movement and reduce muscle guarding. Particularly useful for the pelvis, lower back and hip.

Stretching and myofascial release
Sustained, targeted stretching applied to the fascia and deep muscle layers. Used to address areas of chronic tightness that are contributing to restricted movement or ongoing pain.

Exercise prescription
Targeted exercises prescribed to reinforce what we do hands-on. Building the strength and movement patterns that prevent the problem from returning.

What osteopathy is not

It is not the same as Chiropractic or Remedial Massage
Osteopathy has a broader scope across all joints, muscles and soft tissues, and uses a wider range of techniques. Osteopathy includes soft tissue work but also involves joint assessment and treatment, neurological screening, postural analysis and clinical reasoning.

It is not a quick fix
Hands-on treatment can bring meaningful relief quickly, but lasting results come from addressing the cause, not just the symptom. We will always be honest with you about realistic expectations and what your recovery actually involves.

It is not only for back pain
Back pain is what most people associate osteopathy with. But osteopathy is equally effective for neck and shoulder pain, headaches, hip and knee issues, sports injuries, repetitive strain injuries and more. If something is causing you pain or limiting your movement, it is worth getting it assessed.
