Privacy Policy

Last updated: July, 2026

Nudge Osteopathy ("we", "us", "our") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal and health information. This policy explains what we collect, why, how we store it and who we share it with. We handle your information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs), and the Health Records Act 2001 (Vic).

What we collect and where

Through this website: the only information we collect directly through this site is what you enter into our contact/enquiry form, typically your name, email address, phone number and the details of your enquiry. Our website does not take bookings or collect payment or health records.

When you book or attend the clinic: bookings, appointment details and payments are handled through our practice management system, Cliniko. When you become a patient, we collect the information we need to care for you, including:

  • your name, date of birth, address and contact details;

  • your health information, such as your medical history, symptoms, treatment records and medications (health information is "sensitive information" and receives a higher level of protection); and

  • your payment, private health fund or Medicare details, so we can process consultations and rebates.

Where practical we collect this information directly from you. With your consent, we may also receive relevant information from another health practitioner involved in your care, such as your GP.

Why we collect it

We use your information to:

  • respond to enquiries you send through the website;

  • provide osteopathic assessment, treatment and follow-up care;

  • manage your appointments and send reminders;

  • process payments, private health fund and Medicare rebates;

  • liaise with or refer you to other health practitioners where appropriate and with your consent; and

  • meet our professional, legal and record-keeping obligations.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your information. We may share it with:

  • our service providers, including Cliniko (our booking and records system) and our website and IT providers, who are required to keep it secure and use it only for the services they provide to us;

  • other health practitioners involved in your care, with your consent;

  • health funds, Medicare or insurers, where needed to process a claim; and

  • others where required or authorised by law.

Information you submit is stored on systems operated by these providers. Cliniko stores your booking and health data in line with its own privacy and security standards.

Storing and protecting your information

We take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access, using secure systems and access controls. We keep health records for at least the period required by law (generally seven years from your last visit, or until age 25 for a patient who was under 18 at their last visit), after which they are securely destroyed or de-identified.

Cookies and website analytics

Our website may use cookies and similar technologies to help the site work and to understand how visitors use it. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, though some parts of the site may not work as intended. Our site may link to third-party pages (such as our Google profile or social media); we are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites.

Accessing and correcting your information

You can ask to see the personal and health information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it if it is wrong, out of date or incomplete. Contact us using the details below. We may need to verify your identity first, and in the limited circumstances allowed by law we may decline a request and explain why.

Making a complaint

If you have a concern about how we have handled your information, please contact us first so we can try to put it right. If you are not satisfied, you can contact:

  • the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) - oaic.gov.au or 1300 363 992; or

  • the Health Complaints Commissioner (Victoria) - hcc.vic.gov.au or 1300 582 113.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version will always be available on this page, with the "last updated" date shown at the top.
