Sports Injuries Treatment in Wantirna

Sports Injuries Treatment in Wantirna

Whether you're training for a marathon, chasing a ball on Saturday morning, or just trying to stay active enough to keep up with your kids, injuries happen.

And when they do, how you manage them determines how quickly you return and whether you'll be sidelined again with the same issue.

At Nudge Osteopathy in Wantirna, we strive to get athletes back to what they love. We don't just treat your injury, we analyse why it happened, address the underlying biomechanical flaws, and prepare you for a safer return to sport.

Why choose Nudge for sports injury treatment

Sports injury rehabilitation is only as good as the assessment behind it. Two runners presenting with Achilles pain can have entirely different causes, different contributing factors and entirely different treatment requirements. The tendon is the same. Everything else is not.

At Nudge, we take the time to understand the full picture before we treat anything. That means your sport and its specific demands, your training load, your injury history, your movement patterns and your goals. Whether you are returning to competitive sport or simply want to get back to training without pain, the plan we put together is built around you specifically, not a standard protocol.

Our approach to sports injury treatment

Phase 1: Comprehensive assessment

Your initial appointment runs 45 to 60 minutes. We take a detailed sports history covering how the injury occurred, your training schedule, previous injuries and your equipment where relevant. From there we perform a thorough physical examination including injury-specific orthopaedic testing, biomechanical assessment, kinetic chain analysis and functional movement testing specific to your sport.

You leave the first appointment knowing exactly what is injured, why it happened and what comes next. That includes a clear timeline for return to sport and a structured rehabilitation plan.

Phase 2: Pain relief and tissue healing

Once we understand the injury, treatment begins. In the early phase this focuses on reducing pain, protecting the injured tissue and maintaining your fitness where possible. Manual therapy, load modification and cross-training strategies are used to keep you moving without aggravating the injury. The goal is to find your pain-free window and work within it.

Phase 3: Rehabilitation and strength

This phase is where long-term outcomes are determined. We address the specific weaknesses, movement deficits and biomechanical factors identified in your assessment, progressively building load and reintroducing sport-specific movements as the tissue capacity improves. Proprioception, neuromuscular control and sport-specific loading are all part of this phase.

Phase 4: Return to sport

Return to sport decisions at Nudge are based on objective criteria, not time. Pain-free movement, strength within 90 percent of the uninjured side, successful hop testing, sport-specific movement competency and confidence in the limb are all assessed before clearance is given. Time-based return protocols are outdated. We use measurable benchmarks because they produce better outcomes and lower re-injury rates.
